About the Event
Join Dr. Byron "BK" Edmond (author of Nana and the Bushwoman) and co-author Cassandra Edmond for the book signing and meet and greet for their book "The Quiltmakers" on Friday, April 14th, 2023 from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Spelman College Bookstore. The Quiltmakers is a short story that addresses the high mortality rate that black women face during childbirth every day. In honor of Black Maternal Health Week join us for an evening of cocktails, refreshments, Hors d'oeuvres, and more as we celebrate Black Maternal Health Week with the book signing of "The Quiltmakers."
Wonder why black women are dying at 3 times higher rates surrounding childbirth? Well, check out "The Quiltmakers" as this short story gives the reason why and what can be done to improve these statistics.
Please feel free to spread the word about this event to people in your network!
Copies of "The Quiltmakers" will be available at the Spelman College Bookstore and are available on Amazon for purchase. All proceeds from book sales of "The Quiltmakers" will go to organizations spreading Black Maternal Health Awareness.
